1999 Mercury Cougar 6 cyl Manual

I have a 1999 Mercury Cougar and it has a misfire. We have replaced spark plugs and colpak But it still does it. When your sitting still it starts bogging down like it is going to cut off and then when you give it gas it acts like it is fine. The code it keeps bringin up is misfire on one. Any idea what could be wrong?

Did you visually check for spark at number one? Is fuel pressure ok at idle? There are several things that can cause a misfire. Can you tell if the system is running rich or lean?

If the vehicle acts up at idle, but, is ok, off idle, you might check the idle air system.
