1985 Mercedes Benz 500sec engine idle issue
Engine Performance problem
1985 Mercedes Benz 500sec V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 115000 miles
i was in a very very minor front end collision (air bag did not deploy). ever since the accident the car idles high, like 1800rpm and will not leave first gear. neither was ever an issue before the accident. and idea what might have happened and where i should begin to try and correct the issue?? vacuum leak somewhere?

Hi there,
Thank you for the donation,
I tend to agree with your thoughts in your post, i would be first checking for a vacuum leak, now i am not a Benz tech so i can't give you a definite answer on this, but i would be checking any vacuum connection that may have popped off if the engine jolted in the hit, you may have worn engine mounts and worn engine dampers (tiny shockers that smooth any engine movement due to torque reaction) a vacuum line may have popped of if the engine moved at all.
