1987 Mercedes Benz 300e Altenator
Electrical problem
1987 Mercedes Benz 300e 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 150,00 miles
My altenator went out on my sweet little 300, In trying to replace it I was trying loosen tensioner and it broke from its connection point. Is there any trick for taking the tension off with out the use of this. Or am I screwed, what trick do you have for getting the altenator out. Thanks Dru

Hello –
Forgive me but I don’t understand what you mean when you say you “broke from its connection pointâ€. Is it broken off?
This is the note at the beginning of the belt routing.
ENGINE 103 BELT ROUTING
NOTE: When mounting belts, start at tensioner roller (1) and continue in sequence of numbers. Loosen tensioner fixing bolt, turn tensioner adjuster rod until scale marks are as specified. Tighten tensioner fixing bolt. Refer to appropriate Figures for specific engine.
