This mechanic replaced the lower control arms and engine mounts 3 years ago, at great cost, both now need replaced? Careful drivers and 15,000 miles per year. Are the parts inferior and I should change mechanic?

Hello,

Longevity of any component will always depend on the driving condition and the quality of the part. That being said 5,000 per year so about 45,000 in three years is not too terrible for lower control arm bushings to last. It does sound too soon for the engine mount though.

Are the bushings on the control arm completely gone?

Keep in mind, depending on the brand/type of parts used, they might have warranty left on those parts. That is something your mechanic should be able to answer.

Let me know of any questions or concerns.
Thank you.

Thanks. Not looking to replace myself. Don't expect the generic parts last as long as OEM, but 2 or 3 years? The 2 jobs was $1,500.00, this chain repair shop already charge more than other mechanics, but if they are not using quality parts. I will switch.

Well, it is true that quality parts does make a lot of difference. As you know that the factory components typically lasts longer than many of these replacement parts.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
