1986 Mazda RX7 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

my mazda starts , but then dies . when gas is applied it tries to rev up , but then sputters out . when put in first gear and gas is applied it starts rollin fine untill 3000 rms then tries to die . I have put a new fuel filter on and a new fuel pressure regulater . is there anything more i can do to get my dream car started ?

check engine compression, but use special compression tester for rotary engine.
