When I put the car in reverse it does not engage all the way. I have to rev the engine alot more than normal to get it to back up. It does move but I have to rev the engine to higher rpm's than normal. Does anyone have an idea what it is this is my baby! Oil appears to be clea, does not need oil. All other gears work well, no slipping of any kind. Car drives great on the highway!

Hi Raulhdz76,

Thank you for the donation.

Possible causes for reverse to be slipping during engagement are :

1. Insufficient line pressure.
2. Low-reverse brake slipping.
3. Reverse clutch slipping.

The pressure test can be done with appropriate gauges but the other 2 would require disassembly of the trans.

Are all the other speeds working as expected or any of them slipping as well?
