2006 Mazda 3 Rear rattles, stops when braking

Noises problem
2006 Mazda 3 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 45000 miles

There is a loud rattling at the rear when I hit the slightest bump in the road. However, as soon as I apply the smallest bit of pressure to the brakes, there is a click from the rear disc brakes and the rattle stops. Any help?

Hi swickness. Welcome to the forum. It's time to have the brakes inspected, but be sure to mention the noise, otherwise the mechanic will just look at lining wear. Most likely an anti-rattle clip fell off, broke, or rusted away. Anti-rattle clips are used to hold pads against the calipers and to hold calipers to their mounts. Sometimes they get left off too during routine brake service.
