Manually shifting transmission arm?

Hello, checking on a problem I'm having with shifting from park to drive or reverse, the truck idles down like going into gear, drive, reverse just seems like neutral only light come on reverse but I've pull cable a loose from transmission and tried hand shift. I do have on 4 stands and a helper to in garage brake as starting it up. Help, if anybody knows. Thanks

It sounds like the parking pawl mechanism has broken or jammed, you will need to drop the transmission pan, be ready for fluid to come out when doing it. This video will show how to drop the pan, and I have included how the parking pawl works so you can see what's going on once the pan is removed:
