Saturday it ran normally. Took to car wash. Returned home, found corrosion dust on black battery term. Disconnected and cleaned. Monday drove to work, low RPMs/stalled. At lunch I tried the re-learning process. Drove home in the afternoon, same thing. I only drove about 15 minutes or 5+miles. Maybe not long enough for the computer to relearn?

Hi,

There is a chance it needs to relearn the settings. I would give it a few more miles.

Is the only thing you did was disconnect the battery?

Let me know.

Only thing I did! Tonight, I did the same thing. Disconnected, waited, reconnected battery. Started fine, let idle for 5 minutes, ran about 750 RPMs. Put in gear and couldn't even make it out of parking lot before it started sputtering. Tried driving around neighborhood but every time I slow down (clutch in, brake on, neutral) rpm goes low and stalls. One thing I noticed was that a low fuel warning comes on when this happens (I have 1/2 tank fuel on gauge). Wary to take out on open road in case it stalls again. Happened during right turn and lost power steering. Nobody near so was able to start on the fly but not fun! If it is sitting it runs well. As soon as I drive it doesn't seem to work.

I was wondering about the Throttle Position Sensor. Do you think it would be beneficial to replace the TPS even though I have no check engine light on start-up?

Hi,

Chances are that won't make a difference. I read through everything again. By chance, have you ever noticed any gray smoke from the exhaust when this happens or strong odor from the exhaust?

My thought is there could be an issue with the temperature sensor or fuel pump. Either could be failing and not setting a code. It's interesting the low fuel light came on. That puts me back to the fuel pump idea. There could be a weak connection at the pump.

At this point, if you have a live data scan tool, could you check the coolant temp signal when this would normally happen? Also, if you could provide the short-term fuel trims, that will tell me if it is a likely fuel-related issue. However, neither should have failed by disconnecting the battery.

Recheck everything you worked around to make sure we don't have a loose connection from the battery. Check the ground wires from the battery and make sure nothing was pulled or damaged between the battery and body grounds and the engine block ground.

Let me know.
