Ok, so I was pulling out of my friends house (in reverse) and I went to put the car into drive. I heard a snap and then a click and my shifter went all loose. At first I thought it might have been my transmission going out. I dont even want to risk driving it to a shop becuz I dont even know if it will go into gear. I never tried after this. So I asked around the family (few mechanics in the fam) and the way I described it to them they said it might be a chain link or a broken cable. Either way when I was drivin the shifter was really really loose. Only other gear I was able to put it in was park. I heard 2 small clicks in between (maybe neutral and reverse) and was just a little hard to put in park. I have no knowledge about any of this kind of stuff. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated

Hello

This shift linkage cable has probably been damaged or come loose.

Below is how to check cable.

Please keep in mind that your vehicle is equipped with the AOD or AOD-E transmission as this is necessary to know for proper inspection of cable.
