Electrical problem
2001 Lincoln Navigator V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

Our car is dead almost every morning. I followed your directions on how to test for an electrical draw. Pulled it into the garage, shut everything down, popped the hood and disconnected the hood light, and locked the car to put it to sleep. Waited 20 minutes. Disconnected negative battery cable. Used test light from battery cable to negative battery terminal. Light is dim but then begins pulsating. Relays for the battery saver and interior light are clicking in unison causing the test light to blink on and off. Is this normal? Thank you for your time.

Hi firemanfink,

Thank you for the donation.

No, it is not normal for the test light to blink ON and OFF. It could be the alarm is triggered due to the disconnecting and reconnecting of the negative terminals.

You would have to disconnect the battery terminals with the test lamp attached so as not to break the circuit. Otherwise you would have to use a jumper to bridge the connector and disarm and rearm the alarm system. Remove the jumper and check the teat lamp again.

An ammeter to test the parasitic drain would be more accurate.
