I have trouble shot a misfire problem on cyl #2 to a constant resistance of approx. 30 ohms at the ign coil connector side going to gnd. Thru the PCM. All 7 others measure open ckt. When connector at coil is pulled off and measured. I have purchased a used PCM from scrap yard but engine will not fire with the replacement PCM installed. Does the replacement PCM need to be programmed to my vehicle? Will service shops typically do this or do they require me to buy a new PCM?

Hello,

Yes, the replacement PCM must be programmed to the vehicle, otherwise it will not be recognised by the vehicle.

Programming a PCM requires specialized programming tool.
See attached guidelines for PCM re-programming.
