I have a 1994 LS 400 with 154,000 miles on it. It ran excellent until lastweek. I got out of it and it smelled like firecrackers and a few other things. The next day, the check engine light started coming on. When the light is on, sometimes it puffs blue smoke out of the tailpipes which have sutt on the tips now since all of this. It has very little power when the light comes on. But the light will go off occasionally and it runs fine. Except for today. I got in it to start it and it revved to around 2200 rpm's. The check engine light is still on. When it is off, it runs fine without any type of smell. I think it might be the catalytic converters but with the light going off and it running fine, its got me really puzzled. Maybe its a sensor going bad. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

HI there,

You will have to get the system scanned to retrieve the set fault code, the check light is an indication that the ECU has logged and stored this fault code, it will help your mechanic to pin point the fault as all the codes are individual foe all components in the system.

I was looking under the hood around the intake and found a module that was making a ticking noise. It has two vacuum lines hooked to it. I unhooked the front hose and for some reason it cleared up. I plugged the line for now. The CHL is out, there is no smoke and the car runs fine. I need to find out what this module is that the vacuum line was hooked to. Its one of the chrome lines atop the intake leading down to the drivers side of the engine. Do you have any idea what they call this module or sensor? Thanks for your help
