1990 Lexus LS 400 overheating

well I have a 1990 lexus ls400 and yesterday I found that my car started to overheat as i was driving home and after letting it be idle overnight I checked my fluids and found that I was completely out of antifreeze and the smoke that appeared smelled like coolant but I refilled the tank with water and coolant the car still was running hot.....extremly all the way to the H.....what can i do to check this problem??

check for cracked head gasket, with engine COLD and radiator full of coolant / water remove radiator cap. crank engine over and if coolant blows out of radiator cap opening than you most likely have failed head gasket.
