it stalls badly like it wants to cut off but hasnt yet and seems to be getting worse...what problems could cause this and the most reliable solutions?

Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Also, fuel pressure can be an issue. Have you checked fuel pump pressure or the fuel filter?
