I have a 2001 Kia Sephia--a few days ago my check engine soon light appeared and I did not have time to take it to a dealer (200 miles away)--today I did and I find that my car sputters when driving in town and slow driviing however on the Interstate which from my house to the dealer is 175 miles and going at 75 mph the car does not cut out or act like it is not getting gas--just at slow speeds. It is raining and blowing really hard could some water have gotten in the gas when I filled up? What could be the problem? Thanks and I look forward to a fast reply so that when I get to the dealer they don't take advantage of me as a "woman" !

Faster than writing.

There is a problem that is affecting emissions. The more important thing for you is to find somone you trust. You obviously distrust the dealer. The dealer is just another shop that may or may not be better than the locals shops. I'd bet there are some very qualified independent shops that you can find to work with. I'd like to think there are more honest shops that try for their customers than not. This industry is tough enough without trying to be a thief too!

Timing belt shear off a few teeth maybe??

Get the codes and post them. Feel free to be advised as best we can for you!
