1997 Kia Sophia Check engine light On

My 97 Kia Sophia alway had a check engine llght on, If I unplug the battery terminal and plug back in again the check engine light will come off. If I drive the car for over 30 miles the check engine light will turn on again. Please advice!

SOme of the auto part stores in my area will check the codes for free. When I had mine checked it said I needed a new fuel cap! Got one then no more light.
