I have a 1999 Jeep Wrangler with 165000 miles on it. My jeep stalled a couple of times one day when I stoped at a red light or stop sign. I parked it at my buddies house for the weekend and I rode with him for a business trip. And when I got back the Jeep would crank but wouldn't idle. It would only stay cranked for a second or two.

Disconnect the air intake hose directly at the throttle body and have your buddie crank it and fire it up, then when it starts to die out spray starting fluid in the throttle body, does that keep it running untill it runs out of starting fluid?
