engine smokes alot after idle and knocks

You really need to be more specific. How long a period was it idling, did it smoke when it was idling, or after it was revved up a little?Did it knock when you shut it off(called dieseling)or while it was running? What kind of noise do you consider a knock?You need to help us, so we can help you.
