Hello,
Thank you taking the time to answer my concern.
I have some type of fluid that has been leaking
from the engine area for the past two days.
The liquid is not viscous seems water based
but leaves stain on asphalt. I am not receiving any
indicator lights on the dashboard. The fluid has a brown/ black color to it. It did not leak last evening at work but started back up this morning. It does not seem to be oil because of the amount that has been coming out and it not being viscous and the filter is intact. Could it be a fuel line or gas line?
There is a little bit of a chemical smell of burning from time to time and I did hear a hissing sound this morning after turning the Jeep off. It is not antifreeze because the color does not match and it remains full.
Thank you,
Mike

We need to start by finding where the leak it in relationship to the area involved. Driver side? PAsenger side? Towards the bumper? Etc.

Keep in mind a fluid color can be distorted as it runs down the side of an engine. Look at all your fluids conditions to help compare. Hopefully none of them match that description.

USe a white piece of carboard to better capture the color.

Does this happen more often when the a/c is running?

Fuel is unlikely as you would have a strong scent of fuel and it would eat into the asphalt.

When you first notice the scent of burning, stop and look under the hood for the possible source. Around the exhaust and manifold is a start.
