Brakes problem
1986 Jeep CJ7 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual

replaced the calipers master cylinder and wheel cylinders, bled the system. Now the brakes only have pedal when I get the pedal almost all the way to the floor. Have to basically stand on the pedal to have brakes and then only the back brakes are working. What do I do?

See my profile. Other CJ 5/ 7 posts I've answered. I have owned nothing but CJs since 1981 (all primary drivers). Know alot. Do my own and others work!

You are not losing fluid are you?

Have you bench bled the master cylinder CORRECTLY?. This can be done WHILE it is installed on your Baby, and is really EZer that way. I will explain the procedure (my way--which goes fast and efficient) and make some pics to help. IF YOU WANT ME TO!

Have you used a BRAKE SPOON and adjusted your rear Brakes' Self adjusters until your drums have a SLIGHT DRAG on each side?--NOT UNTIL THEY WILL NOT MOVE!

Please Respond,

The Medic
