ok i know there are other questions out there but there arent any situations like mine.....

1996 Jepp Cherokee 4.0 Liter Engine 150,xxx

Ok so for the past few weeks my car has been hesitating to start so my bf tested it at his job(Autozone)......

battery-fine
starter-fine
alternator-fine

I go to leave work and it wont start.....doesnt make any noise.....

We changed the spark plugs and still nothing.....

The AC still comes on, lights,etc....still come on when the key is in the on position
Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening?

HI
there is more to starting the car than battery starter
alternator.
you have relay N\S switch ( if auto ) clutch switch ( if manu) ignition switch and wiring
hope that can help
good luck

Turn key, no engine rotation. Common complaint, let's try to isolate it further. Have to ask a few basic questions first... By checking the Battery, starter, and alt. you've helped, you indicate that when turning the key you do get juice to some of your electrical goodies, so at least PART of your ignition switch is ok. Ok. now...
Do you have pressure in the fuel rail? Do you have spark at the plugs? Does your fuel pump work? Just want to verify that those areas are OK.
Have you checked that you ARE getting 12VDC or more at the connection at the starter when trying to crank it? Use multimeter, red lead to wire connection at starter, black lead to vehicle frame to complete circuit. If not, are your wiring connections solid at the battery and starter (not loose, broken, frayed...?), and have you checked: 1. the starter relay in power distribution center under the hood, 2. and the 50 amp blue ignition switch start fuse in the power dist. center? Check your owner's manual for exact locations.
As posted previously by "bmrfixit", you do have a Neutral Start Switch that could potentially cause problem - will it start in neutral? If so, NSS & wiring could be looked at.
The fact that it has been "hesitating" and building up to a no-start makes me wonder - need more info. Do all your usual dash lights come on when starting - I'm most interested in the check engine light.
Have you pulled the self-diagnostic codes at all? I posted directions on how to do this in either the "Won't Start" dated Fri 27jul07, or "Cranks but no start" dated thur 23aug07 (both dates are my posting date, and titles are exact) but can't remember which one was it.
Check, re-post if you can...Hope this helps...
