1999 Jeep Cherokee my jeep wan start
Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Jeep Cherokee 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 160000 miles
jeep want start i ran a wire from positive cable to harness of fuel pump and the pump came on but the trk still did not start but when in on position i cant here pump on and my check gauges light is staying on could it still be the fuel pump

Hi:
If the fuel pump could run but not produce enough pressure. If the check engine light is on, something tells me there is a sensor problem. Have you checked to see if you are getting spark? Also, here is a how to video to watch. It explains how to check for fuel pressure.

Keep in mind, if the check engine light is on, there is a code in the computer that will tell you the problem, but you will need a scanner to check what the code is. Most parts stores will scan for free, but since the vehicle doesn't run, you may need to see if you can rent one.
