1996 Jeep Cherokee STALLS

1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee V 8 stalls as soon as I let off the gas. Starts as if the battery is dragging. Doesn't die if I keep it reved up.

Two things come to mind here considering the mileage on your jeep. 1. Compression; you may have tired valves or worn piston rings. 2. Fuel pump; if you haven't had to change one yet, now may be the time.
