Engine Mechanical problem
1995 Jeep Cherokee 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

My car starts up and runs but after a couple minutes it just dies. I let it sit a minute or so it then starts right up and then a few blocks away it does it again. The first time it did it there was an odd smell, kind of like rotten eggs. But the smell was only that one time. The problem has been going on for about 2 weeks.

When it starts acting up does it just stall like someone shut it off. Or does it stumble and have limited power then stall?

I would start by checking the fuel pressure. Should be around 30 to 40 psi. It maybe necessary to hook gauge and drive vehicle see if when it stalls the pressure drops. Is the check engine light on?

We need to find out if its loosing fuel or loosing spark to determine the source of the concern. Fuel pressure is always what I start with. A fuel pressure gauge is going to have to be installed to aid in diagnosing.
