Mine is an '88 Cherokee Pioneer. Some called it an XJ in another forum.

My BF had to hit the brakes hard and avoid an object in the road on our way to my school. I'm a college student. Anyhow, 30 seconds after he wserved around it, the jeep just stalled out and and died. The electrical stuff didn't dim and the radio kept playing. It tries hard as it can to crank, just won't turn over.

It sounds like the fuel pump went out, it happens when fast maneuvers occur because of the gas sloshing around in the tank.

Here is a link that will help.

Please let us know how it goes.
