I removed the battery box for the trunk of my car to re-paint it because of acid corrosion. In doing so I discovered a drain hose laying on the floor of my trunk under the battery box. This hose goes through a rubber grommet directly below the battery box. The hose is black and approximately 1/4" in diameter and maybe one and a half to two feet long. Do you have any idea where the origination of this hose should be?

Thank you,

Hello,

That is a drain hose for the battery. The correct type of battery for this vehicle will have a port that the drain hose gets attached to. This way, in case of an acid spill it will drain out of the vehicle and will not have acid corrosion. Just like what you were fixing.

Many of these batteries that go in a trunk or under the seat will have a drain of this type.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
