'87 xj6 fuel pump location

I recently purchased a 87 xj6. Good battery, good plugs, good spark. When i filled the tanks with gas, the fuel did not reach the fuel rail. Does anyone know where the fuel pump is located on this car?

Can't say for certain but most fuel injected cars have a pump located in the fuel tank. However looking at the replacement part it appears to be an inline type.

The spare tire is located under a plywood panei in the trunk. Between that plywood panel and the bumper is another plywood panel held down by 5 or 6 screws. The fuel pump is located under that panel.
