Why do Isuzu Troopers use so much oil and is there any repair that will stop that short of a complete rebuild? We had a 94 and a 93 and now a 98 and a 99 that uses about a quart in 500 miles. The 98 only has about 89,000 on it and the 99 only has around 122,000 on it. My mechanic can find no sign of leaking on the 99. Thanks.

The 98 has blue smoke for about 15 seconds when cold. I haven't noticed it at all with any of the other Troopers.

If it only burns it at start up, I would say it has bad valve guide seals. When they are bad, they will allow oil to drain down to the valve and enter the combustion chamber when it's first started. If the smoke goes away, that is my first guess.

Let me know if you have other questions.
