I have a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo 3.2l v6 2wd with auto transmision. I was reading other forums on how to clean the range/mode sensor if your were having problems with a hard upshifting/downshifting(2-3 and 3-1)transmission. I did so with the sensor, replaced it and am still having the hard shifting. I have a check engine light on and the PRND32L lights coincide with the gear selected on my shift lever. I have not checked or cleared the trouble code(s) within my computer. My question is this. If the range/mode sensor triggered a trouble code in the computer and it went into limp-home mode(it causes the trans to shift like it's doing now when that is triggered), could the computer be locked into that mode even if the sensor was cleaned or replaced? None of the other forums discussed that far into the subject and was hoping someone could shed me some light. Thanks.

After you changed the sensor did you clear the codes? Even with the new sensor it may still be in the same spot. Try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes. Then reconnect it and see if it helps and if the codes have cleared.
