Electrical problem 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 82,000 miles

2002 Isuzu Axiom - 82,000 miles. Purchased the vehicle new in 2004.
This has been a problem free vehicle until today. It was Driving smoothly when the electricals (door locks; headlights; dash light indicators; control panel; a/c; etc.) Began flashing or loosing power. Car abruptly shut off. I was able to restart the vehicle, but it would not drive faster than 20 mph. Still the electricals were acting odd or not working entirely. Seemed as though the car was getting no power. Turning on the headlights causes the a/c and engine to have a noticeable strain. I had a little more success when I manually shifted the vehicle down 3 or even 2 gear. Yet, still it struggled to attain 20 mph. Got the vehicle home (fortunate to only be 1 mile away). Turned it off, now it will not even start. Just clicks.

Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi esample,

Get the battery tested. Seems the battery is weak now due to charging or battery fault.

Jump start vehicle and if it starts, test the alternator charging rate. It should be between 13.5 to 14.5 volts.

Does your car crank over and not start or not crank over?

Cheers, Ken
