Ignition problem

When I turn the ignition on, there is nothing. There is no power. If I turn the ignition on again, and leave it in the “on” position for about three seconds, it fires up, and runs fine. What could be causing this?

This does sounds like an ignition switch issue. Leaving it on for 3 seconds sounds like a control module issue but I am not sure how that would be the issue so I would suggest replacing the ignition switch and go from there.

I attached the procedure. Let me know if you have question.

One other question: if I Hotwire the vehicle, would that bypass the ignition switch?

If you mean jump power to the starter with the ignition in the on position then yes. This will bypass the ignition switch. However, by doing this you are giving easy accessibility for everyone else who may want to "hot-wire" your vehicle as well. Basically you are making it so you don't need a key to start the engine which means no one else will need a key to start the engine.
