After sitting in traffic 20-30 minutes, the TCS lights and check engine lamps come on. Temperature gauge drops to cold engine races 2,000 rpm's and runs roughly. I have to apply the brakes with quite a bit of force to keep if from lunging forward. Once traffic moves, the transmission seems to not want to shift into 2nd, at first, until rpm's are near 3,000 then will slam into second and again into 3rd. Then all the indicators mentioned go out and it drives normally again. Checked obd2 codes and found only a temperature sensor error code. Replaced temperature sensor to no avail.

What was the actual code and did it go away when you put the sensor in it?

The ECM bases the air fuel ratio on engine temp so if it suddenly drops then the ECM may adjust the fuel to a more rich condition which would account for everything you are seeing.

Let's start with the actual code and go from there. Thanks

Yesterday, I installed an ODB2 fob and pulled the codes as the van was exhibiting this behavior. I’ve posted screen shots of the codes.

Okay. I attached the diagram for P0118 and P0401. I would start with the P0118 and after you fix that code, clear the rest and see if the issue happens again. If it does then we need to see what returns. I suspect the P0401 is a result of the issue you are seeing. However, that will be clear once the P0118 is gone.

Since you already replaced the sensor, the only other options are a wiring issue or a PCM issue.

If you run through the test, you will find the answer. Then we just need to restest it after you figure that one and go from there.

Let us know what you find and we can go from there. Thanks
