2004 Hyundai Sonata Tune up
need to tune up my car cannot find a manuel for doing this yourself without having to take to dealership is there anything out there with this information without costing a small fortune.??

If it's the 2.7, the intake manifold has to be removed! I think Hyundai charges about 350.00 for a tune up...
Finding tune up info is tough, and finding any good info on hyundais can be difficult.
If I remember right the plug replacement calls for about two and a half hours, which is way off the mark. It is much less to do. The front three are pretty easy. Just pull off the engine cover and they are right there. the back three, you need to pull off the coil pack assys. they are all attached to a bracket and the bracket just gets unbolted and then you have access. The take platimum plugs, I would us ngk brand on this one. Be very careful gapping these. The platimun can scratch off. Hopefully they are gapped right out of the box.
Fuel filter is in the tank if I remember right...I wouldn't touch it if it is.
Timing belt should be done at 60,000 on this one if it were mine.

I owned an 03, so maybe they did a design change...mine required the intake to come off on 2.7....

I did one a few months back...maybe it was the 4 cyl...but it took less than an hour...almost poitive it was this one though. I was trying to find info on mitchell before I posted, but it was pretty gray.
If it was a 6 Paul, it could have been the 3.5, and tho I never owned it long enough to have to tune it, the shop manual for mine even gave a part number that included new intake gasket set!
Hmmmm....3.5 sounds more familiar....although I don't know what I had for lunch yesterday.
Tommorow when I get into work I'll have to check the records. I do remember an outrageous amount of time for it and didn't understand why....usually they don't give enough. :)
