I just purchased a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.7 V6, and the speedometer is sparatic at times. Typically right when I start the car but at random moments while driving it does not register any speed, or it will just around a bit. I have not had a Check engine light come on, nor do I notice any actually difference in speed or transmission function. Just speed output on meter. Any thoughts as to the cause?

I had the same issue with my santa fe at about the same mileage. Your vehical has more that one "speed sensor". This one just happens to be the hardest one to get to. Its located on the trans behind the engine. It mounts with just a single bolt. The part is not very expensive, its just difficult to get to. Good luck.
