I've been having a squeaking noise, I believe it's coming from my front passenger side. I thought it was coming from my brakes, since I hear it when I brake. But I'm hearing the squeaking noise when my car is in motion. My dad, who lives in another state, believes it may be the fan belt.

It could be a couple things. Do you hear it when the car is stopped or only when you are moving? Let me know.

Take a look at this page. It identifies where all adjusters and belt tensioniers are located for all engines in your type of vehicle.

https://www.2carpros.com/car_repair_information/year/2001/make/hyundai/model/santa_fe/2001_hyundai_santa_fe_drive_belt_routing_diagram.htm

Let me know if it helps.

Noises problem
2004 Hyundai Santa Fe 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

A friend's serpentine belt is squeaking. Is it loose or is the noise from the tensioner? How does it get adjusted? Thank you.

Hi:
Some of these vehicles have automatic temsioners that can go bad, others need to be adjusted. Check to make sure everything is tight. Check the tensionier to make sure it is working and any manually adjusted belts need to be inspected for tightness.

Let me know what you find.
