Electrical problem
2000 Hyundai Elantra Two Wheel Drive Automatic 160000 miles

my battery went dead so I charged it over night.I had the charging system tested and the alternater showed it was not charging, I put a new one in and it still shows it's not charging. Is there a external regulater or fuse I should check. Thanks david

Hi there,

You will have to check the fuses, fusible links and the resistor are all serviceable, start here.

Expect the unexpected in this industry, a faulty new alternator would not be expected, it just shows that you must check everything twice.

Put new alt in, same thing. After pounding my head on the engine, I noticed when you reved the motor the belt didn't realy speed up all that much, I took the belt off and all the ribs were gone, it looked fine on the outside, works great now, my head still hurts. Thanks again, dave
