2002 Hyundai Accent problems fueling gas tank

Gas pumps at different stations stop pumping.
only way to add fuel is by backing off and pumping
very slow. Had an occation where I left the pump on
and did not stop pumping automaticaly and fuel spilled out the filler neck onto the ground. Ever since it is very hard to fill the tank.

Chances are the breather is plugged or damaged. Check under the vehicle where the filler neck is located. There will be a smaller hose running from the fuel tank to the top of the filler neck. THat is the vent. IF it is damaged or plugged, air can't escape from the tank when filling. As a result, it backs up in the filler tube and shuts off the pump.
