Transmission Shifting issues

My 2004 Pilot transmission stopped shifting. "Transmission Temp" light came on. Dipstick read dry. Engine (emissions) light has been on a couple of days. I refilled tranny through dipsticks tube with 3 quarts of ATF-Z1 as specified in manual. Next day after about 30-45 minutes of driving car stops shifting again. Puddle of transmission fluid under car. No apparent leaks from pan. Hard to read dipstick level because no distinct reading. Did I add too much and the fluid got "pressurized" out? What else should I check for?

Hello,

How did you determine you needed 3 quarts?
If you were to drop the transmission pan to change fluid you would need little more than 3 quarts. So chances are you did add too much. However when too much fluid gets added it can cause other issues. You could get a hose that might come off for having too much fluid.
Has it been driving ok since?
