My 2003 Honda pilot is slipping on occasion when I push on the gas pedal. Is this a transmission problem and what is the first step I should take?

Hi Safiregod,
First thing you should do is check the fluid level and condition.
How bad is the slipping or it it just the trans downshifting?

thank you i will check the level and condition of the fluid. the slipping happens on occasion when i push on the gas pedal, then it takes a second or two to catch up. it doesn't happen that often. so i dont know how bad it is or isn't.

Symptoms indicates the fluid level is possibly low. If not then the trans could be failing.
