Clunking/knocking sound

2001 Honda Civic LX, 59k miles. Every time I go over even a slight bump in the road I hear a loud clunk or knock from my left front side of the car. Any ideas on what this could be? Otherwise the car drives fine. Already checked the CV joint and shocks.

It sounds like you have a loose or bad strut bushing on that side. it doesn't have front shocks but struts with a shock assembly in the center.

Open the hood, put your hand on the strut tower and bounce the car up and down hard.Ii think you will feel the clunk.

It is a professional job not to done by a novice because of the danger of the compressed spring.
