Hello my civic ex has stalled or nearly stalled a few times on the highway when driving about 15 minutes at 70 mph or above. The Honda dealer mechanic is not sure what the problem is but said it might be a sensor. Nobody seems to know for sure. Could be a fuel pump relay? What is a mystery is it doesn't always happen and I noticed that if I drive below 60 mph it doesn't stall at all but if I drive 70 or more there is a good chance it will happen. When driving 10 minutes or so on the highway at 70+ all of the sudden the lights on the dash come on and the car is forced to slow down to a max speed of 30 mph and/or wants to shut down for 20 minutes

There is no real common problem that I can think of that would case a stalling vehicle at 60mph. My advice would be to find a shop that is willing to install a diagnostic data reader into the DLC connector. This will capture the data when the vehicle stalls. With that data, they can hopefully find out which sensor or part is failing.

has this problem been solved? this just happened to me over holiday. I can drive at 65 mph for hours at a time. however, if I drive at 70 mph+ for about 1 hour, it cuts down to under 40 mph.

Ps. It is a 2010 Honda civic lx with 60k+ miles on it.

Hey Robert,

This sounds like the car is going into limp mode, do you have a check engine light on? Please scan the computer for codes to see what comes up. Here is a guide that will show you how to do it.
