Check door contact switch see if it is grounded. Does theft system work? This guide can help us check the wiring with the door lock wiring diagrams below.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-wiring

Check out the diagrams (Below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

First check if there is a open wire from the driver's side under dash fuse box to the actuator.
If the yellow/black wire is ok, the mutiplex is bad.

Hi carlos vega,

Seems the problem is with the multiplex control system. The control unit is pluggeg into the underdash fuse box and water could have gotten to it causing it to fail.

Unpug the control unit and check for water contamination.

Out of nowhere, the passenger door lock no longer responds, has to be opened manually. Tried changing the fuse, no luck. It is a two-door and everything else, like power windows and the other door lock, works. Any possible ideas on this? Thanks.

You'll need to remove the door panel and check for power at the door lock actuator.

If you have power and it grounded properly you can suspect the actuator. If not then there is a broken wire.

Hi mickisking,

Your problem seems to be with the driver door actuator.

Either the motor is dead or some wires are disconnected/broken

KHLow,

Thanks for your reply. I have a question regarding your answer. How do both locks stop working at the sametime if it is a door actuator. Wouldn't there be an actuator for each lock. Is the actuator located somewhere other than inside the door. Is there a simple way check to see if it is a wiring issue? Thanks again for your assistance.

Hi mickisking,

Each door has their own actuator and for both to fail at the same time is not likely, but possible.

Actuator is inside door located next to door lock. Control unit is located inside driver door panel. Wire from control unit is linked to driver side rear door so not likely to be the issue as that door is working.

You need to test for power supply/operation of door actuator to know if it is a wiring issue.

93K miles. Has a remote key less entry system that stopped working a while ago as well as the power door lock panel that is only on the drivers side of the car. I've checked all the fuses and they all seem good. When I push the remote the lights on the car light up so I know that it's getting the signal to lock but the automatic locks don't work. And then when you push the automatic door locks on the drivers side door sometimes the back driver's side passenger door will lock or unlock, but none of the other doors do including the driver's side door lock. You can hear what I believe is the multiplex control unit under the dashboard clicking when you push the buttons as though it is receiving the signal, but that's all. Do you have any ideas on how I can fix the power door locks?

Hi Wellers,

Symptom seems to describe a faulty/malfunctioning multiplex control unit.

Refer to the schematic for the wiring and test if output is coming out of the multiplex control unit. Check if actuators are working correctly as well.

Electrical problem
2000 Honda Civic

When I flip the switch on the drivers door to lock all the doors, all the doors except the drivers door lock. The same is true when I unlock the doors. I tried to use the remote to lock and unlock the doors and the same problem occurs. The only way I can lock or unlock the drivers door is by manually pushing the lock down or pulling it up. Any advice? Thanks

Hi smythers133,

The problem is most likely to be the door lock actuator. You need to remove the door panel to test the actuator. Remove the wire connector and attach a test lamp.
When operating the lock and unlock switch, the lamp should light up. If lamp does not light up, chack the control unit power output fro the actuator.

If test lamp works, use battery power to the door lock actuator and reverse the polarity to lock or unlock. If it does not work, the actuator is faulty.

2000 Honda Civic HX. 48,000 miles
Had keys made for this vehicle and had to take apart door handle to get key made.
I have put it all together and after checking it to confirm it worked I put it all back together.
Now my drivers side door will not dissengage the lock. Even with proper keys. Seems like a solenoid which its' default position is to lock the door. No keyless entry system on this car. Can you help me "reverse" the polarity on this "solenoid" / door lock? Or help me understand how it works?
Your help is greatly appreciated?

Hi there,

I would be checking that you have not got a linkage working the wrong way about, start here, first, I have no pics of the set up, so you may have to check the other door to make suer that all is fitted correctly.

Thanks. I have tried that and actually had a hard time removing the inetrior door cover with door still locked shut. Ayyyyy!
Anyways I can see that everything is correct but even if I try and unlock it "manually" pulling on lock rods. It's like the car sends a signal to the locks and forces them to relock. Even though I have not totally unlocked it. Passenger side works fine with electric unlock switch problem is drivers side.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
I was told by the dealer that an keyless remote can be purchased. That's great but I cannot drive it there yet as I am repairing some body damage to it now.

When I hit the "lock" button on my 2000 Honda Civic remote, all doors lock except for the right front - likewise when I hit "unlock", the right front door fails to unlock.
The lock button functions fine when moved manually. How complex/expensive is this repair? Can I do it myself?

Hi brwinkle,

The problem is caused by a bad door lock actuator or its wiring.

PASSENGER'S DOOR
1. Remove the door panel.
2. Disconnect the 2P connector from the actuator.

https://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/192750_DoorActuatorFrt02CivicFig13_1.jpg

3. Check actuator operation by connecting power and ground according to the table. To prevent
damage to the actuator, apply battery voltage only momentarily.

https://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/192750_DoorActuatorFrt02CivicFig15_1.jpg

4. If the actuator does not operate as specified, replace it.

If actuator works, check for broken wires, especially between door frames.
