Engine Cooling problem
1997 Honda Civic 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 140k miles

i have a 97 honda civic ex the antifreeze is evaporating I have to add water every 60 miles. It has no leaks anywhere. I checked the radiator, all hoses, even the heater core. It does not produce a smell. The coolant just desappears with no trace and there is no coolant in the ingine or transmition fluid. Where is the water going? Please help?

Hi djavilas,

There must be a leakage somewhere and a pressure test would reveal where it is.

Is the recovery tank over flowing or depleting as well?

If the cooling fans are not working, it would cause the coolant to over flow through the recovery tank.

Other possible causes are :

1. Bad radiator cap.

2. Blown head gasket.

Get the cooling fans system checked first.
