Car was working fine in the morning. I parked it. When I came back that night, i pressed the clutch and turned the key, got a weird hesitation in the engine. Turned it off and restarted. Engine worked fine, but the clutch pedal did not come back up. Tried putting it into gear and obviously I could not. Have never had problems with the clutch before. The car has 88,000 miles and is a 1994 Honda Accord.

Any ideas on what this may be and how to fix?

Hi there,

Check the clutch fluid, if reservoir is empty, look under the rubber boot on the slave cylinder, this is the hydraulic cylinder that operstats the clutch, if wet with brake fluid it will require replacing and the system will have to be bleed of air. If slave cyl OK, and no fluid in reservoir, have a look under the dash on the floor and rear of firewall for fluid stains , this will indicate a faulty master cyl. this will also require re bleeding when replaced.
