I am helping a friend to run his car in his absence. This morning when starting the car, it had the usual engine starting sound then suddenly it went into a clicking sound and sounded something like "tee tee tee tee..." I tried again and the same thing. I contacted my friend who said he will contact his mechanic when he is back. Neither of us know what is causing this.

The alarm works fine, the air conditioning can still function and the CD player still works fine.

Any suggestions will be most appreciated. Thanks!

I assume the engine didn't actually start. If this is the case, then you have a starter or battery issue.

This sounds like a battery more than anything else, so we need to start there.

Here is a guide that will help with this:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/car-battery-load-test

Once we know if the battery was the issue or not, then we can move onto the starter if it was not.

More than likely if the battery passes the load test, then the starter will need to be replaced so I attached that info below.

Please run through this info and let me know what questions you have.

Thanks
