The cruise control button located on the steering wheel of my 2003 Accord no longer clicks "on" (the down position). You hear a "click" sound, but the cruise control light on the dashboard fails to stay on unless I hold it down. Is this a dealer repair item or can I replace it myself? Many thanks!

Hi beto61,

The cruise set switch is a one click contact to activate the system and from your description, I don't think it is faulty.

The most common fault for cruise control not activating are a bad brake switch or is out of adjustment.

The brake switch is a 4 wire 2 circuit switch and if it is not closing sufficiently, the cruise would not work.

Try using your foot to lift the brake pedal and activate the cruise. If it works, you need to check the brake switch adjustment.
