Security alarm?

When trying to jump start (totally dead) the alarm sounds and lights flash as soon as I connect to a booster battery. It's the factory security system operated now by key only. Is there a way to "reset" this alarm? There has been no change in the key use but the alarm may have been activated and the car immobilized.

I can crank the engine with the alarm blasting but it won't fire because I assume it's in the "immobilized mode".

Is the green key symbol staying on? It must go off to be able to start. If you have a spare key, try using it.

For the horn to be blaring, it is not only the immobilizer. You need to disarm the alarm as well.

this guide will help us fix it

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-reset-a-security-system

Close all doors and use the key to lock and unlock all doors before opening them.

If that does not wok, you would have to check for blown fuses resulting in no communication between the PCM, security system and key.

Thank you! The door/key/lock/unlock cycle reset the immobilizer and it started easily with a jump. I appreciate your help, can I leave a tip?

It was said that "Fuse 13 powers the alarm module." Which panel? Driver's side? Passenger? Or engine compartment box?

So I replaced the window regular since the window wouldn’t go up or down so when I replaced it and plug it in it did work but the car won’t turn on at all but lights do show but says like all the doors are open and the trunk and dumb idea to remove the battery and now it won’t stop beeping and keychain doesn’t work. New to this sorry lol I’m assuming it has to do with the door I fixed the regulator since I plugged it in it’s behind the driver seat one.

Hello,

Is the security light flashing? It is common to reset the alarm system when the battery has been disconnected. This guide will show how to reset the system:

Please run down this guide and report back.

Close all doors and use the key to lock and unlock the door to disarm.
If it fails with one door, try thre other or trunk. If it still does not work, insert key to ignition and turn it on.

Hi nate4life,

If the alarm can be armed and the power locks are working, then try the procedure described in the following link and see if it helps.

Hi Nate,

The vehicle is allergic to touch and vibration ;) just joking.

Most probably you have a door out of adjustment/loose or the door switch is not being activated properly.

Does the door ajar warning indicator light sometime flashes while driving?
If yes, you should check which door is out of adjustment.
With dome light switched to operate with door, sit inside vehicle and close all doors. Push at the door from inside the car and waych out which door turns the dome light on. That is the door that you should check for adjustment or switch problem, could be a missing rubber cover.

Took my car to jiffy lube for an oil change today. When I got home, I used the remote to lock the doors and set the factory alarm. The doors locked but the blinkers did not flash and no horn beep indicating the alarm is active. So I tried my wifes remote and same thing. The remotes both lock and unlock the doors but not activate the factory alarm. This function worked by remote only moments before taking my car to jiffy lube. Coincidence? Any help, thanks, JJ

Hi JJ,

There is a possibility the audible signal was set to off. Try if the following helps

AUDIBLE SIGNAL
Remote keyless transmitter operation is indicated by the side marker lights, taillights and parking lights flashing once (lock) or twice (unlock). An audible indicator (alarm chirp) can also be programmed. When transmitter battery is replaced, audible indicator will be turned off.

To Switch On Alarm Chirp(s)
1. Using remote transmitter, press and hold trunk release button. Immediately press and hold the lock button.
2. The transmitter LED should light and remain on for one second. After LED goes out, release buttons.

To Switch Off Alarm Chirp(s)
1. Using remote transmitter, press and hold trunk release button. Immediately press and hold the lock button.
2. The transmitter LED should flash twice. After LED goes out, release buttons.
Remote transmitters may be coded into system.
