1995 Honda Accord 6 cyl Automatic 60,000 miles

When I start my car I have to start in it netural because if I start it in park then I cant get it out of park to go to drive. Then after I get it started then I have to take off in low gear, after I get started then I can shift to drive. Then when I come to a stop I have to gear back down to low because if I take off in drive it seem as though it doest what to pull or it does not have a lot of power. Whats up?

Hi sandra,

Seems there are 2 problems present.

For the gear shift stuck in P, the shift interlock is not activating to releas the gear shift. Check if the brake lights are operating. If the brake lights do not work, the shift interlock solenoid would not be activated.

Transmission seems to be stuck in 2nd gear and you need to move it manually to 1 to get the power.
If the D4 light is blinking while driving, there are errors in the transmission control system. You would have to retrieve the trouble code to understand what is causing it.
