temp goes to high when at higher rpms.
low rpms are fine even in traffic at 90 degrees
new thermo
need to run heater if highway driving

Hi jimmy13,

The symptoms indicates cooling efficiency and since the thermostat is new, the other possibles causes are :
1. Clogged radiator.
2. Weak water pump.
3. Clogged water passages.
4. Insufficient coolant.

The most likely cause would be clogged radiator.
